In 2016, Omar graduated from New York University with a BFA in Film with an emphasis on cinematography. He shot 13 short films and worked on another 80, predominately in the electric department. After graduating, he worked on Emmy Award winning TV shows such as "Orange is the New Black" and "Master of None", and on feature films such as Lynn Ramsey's "You Were Never Really Here", as an electrician. In 2015, he was nominated for the Best Cinematography Award at the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival for the short film "Maternal". Both features he has shot will be premiering in festivals in 2019 with the narrative feature “Touched” at the DC International Film Festival 2019 and the documentary feature “A Forgotten Past” at the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival 2019.
