In 2016, Omar graduated from New York University with a BFA in Film with an emphasis on cinematography. He shot 13 short films and worked on another 80, predominately in the electric department. After graduating, he worked on Emmy Award winning TV shows such as "Orange is the New Black" and "Master of None", and on feature films such as Lynn Ramsey's "You Were Never Really Here", as an electrician. In 2015, he was nominated for the Best Cinematography Award at the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival for the short film "Maternal". In 2017, he completed principle photography on the narrative feature film "Touched" and the documentary feature "I, Solomon", both of which are slated for a 2018 release.
